Baramulla traders, transporters protest police “highhandedness”

Baramulla: The traders and transporters in this north Kashmir Township have blocked Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway to protest the alleged police highhandedness.

The shopkeepers along the Kriyapa Park road joined by the transporters staged anti-Police protests this afternoon after a police team led by an officer allegedly misbehaved them, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. The protesters alleged that the police team also allegedly smashed windscreens of the passenger vehicles. The protesters blocked the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway for several hours to protest the alleged police highhandedness.

“This protest is being held against police because the shopkeepers complained that police team abused them without any reason or rhyme. We want the district administration to act,” General Secretary Traders Federation Baramulla Er Tariq Ahmad Magloo said.

The peaceful protests against the police was going on when the last reports came in.
