Peoples League pays tributes to martyrs of July 13

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League chairman Sheikh Mohmmad Yaqoob and vice chairman Mohd Yaseen Attie on Thursday paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931.
In a statement, the leaders praised the martyrs for raising their voice against the atrocities of the Dogra rule and laying their lives for it.
“This day has the significance of marking the beginning of the ongoing freedom struggle. On this day the Kashmiris for the first time raised their voice against the atrocities perpetrated by the Dogra rulers and 22 persons offered supreme sacrifices of their life,” the statement said.
They said that the incident served as a milestone in the history of Kashmir.
They termed the sacrifice of the martyrs of 13th July as a beacon of light for the freedom loving generation of Jammu and Kashmir and said that the best way to pay tributes to the martyrs was to carry forward their mission to its logical conclusion.
Announcing support for the joint program of pro-freedom leadership, they urged people to participate in the proposed rally and observe the day for “reaffirmation of oath to take martyrs mission to its logical conclusion, peacefully.”
They appealed International community and United Nations to help Kashmiri people in acquiring their right to self determination.
