Pak sniper fire injures soldier

Srinagar: An Indian army soldier was shot at and injured by a sniper from Pakistan Rangers in Poonch sector of Jammu region on Tuesday.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that Lance Naik Jitender Kumar of 12 JAT regiment suffered injuries when a sniper fired a single shot at him from across the LoC in Poonch district on Tuesday morning. According to last reports, the soldier was shifted to the army’s 425 field regiment hospital.
Meanwhile, a defence spokesman claimed the army on Tuesday foiled an infiltration attempt by three armed militants from across the LoC in the Sunderbani sector in Jammu region. “Three unidentified militants were trying to sneak in through Line of Control in the general area of Sukhtao Nala in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district,” the Jammu-based officiating spokesman of the Ministry of Defence SN Acharya told a news agency.
“Our alert soldiers challenged the terrorists who in turn started firing and running back towards the LoC,” Acharya said. He said the army troops returned the fire and foiled the infiltration bid. No causality was reported, he added.
