Illegal kilns asked to shut down

SRINAGAR: The government Tuesday asked the illegally-operating brick kilns in central Kashmir’s Budgam district to shut down.
“Illegally-running brick kilns in the district shall close down forthwith or, if there is any documentation process going on for some kilns, they should follow the prescribed procedures strictly and complete the process as early as possible,” the District Development Commissioner (DDC) concerned Mir Altaf said in a release here.
“Any one not adhering to the guidelines is liable for punishment warranted under rules including the arrest of the concerned,” he said.
He said the drive initiated to retrieve Kahcharia state land from encroachers in various areas of the district is in full swing.
In a meeting convened to discuss various issues and drives, the DDC said the district administration has succeeded in retrieving “4,953 kanal of Kahcharia land from encroachers and 402 kanal of illegally-grabbed state from miscreants”.
“The drive initiated will continue with more vigour as tremendous response has been shown by people from all walks of life,” he said, asking the stakeholders to cooperate with the administration in making this initiative a success.
During the meeting, the DDC stressed on full implementation of PSGA for the people to utilise the services guaranteed under the Act. During the meeting the District Development Commissioner also reviewed the status of distribution of Aadhar card in the district.
