Lull in Uri gunfight, bodies of 2 militants recovered: Police

Srinagar: The police said that the bodies of two militants killed in a gunfight with the army in Uri on Friday were recovered from the area, while search is on for the third militant believed to have been injured during the operation.
“Since Sunday the two sides have not exchanged fire but our jawans are searching the area for the third militant,” said deputy inspector general of police (north Kashmir) Gareeb Das.
Army had on Friday said that it challenged a group of five to seven militants, who were entering Kashmir from Pakistan administered Kashmir, at Noori and Gogar posts in Boniyar area of Uri along the Line of Control.
A soldier, Harpreet Singh of 8 Sikh Regiment, had also died in the gunfight on Friday.
Since the area is inaccessible, no independent confirmation of the incident could be made. The account of such incidents is always provided by either police or the army.
Earlier, on 5 December 2014, 17 persons including militants, policemen and soldiers had died during when militants attacked an army camp at Mohra, Uri.
