6 Valley candidates qualify UPSC exam

SRINAGAR: Six candidates from Kashmir have qualified this year’s Union Public Service Commission examinations, among them Ruveda Salam who became the first Kashmiri woman to qualify the exam in 2013 and is currently posted as an IPS officer.
Salam has got 878 rank this time in the exam in which a total of 1236 candidates were declared successful across India, including 37 Muslims.
Besides Salam, Baseer-Ul-Haq (46), Afaq Giri (457), Chaudhary Mohammad Yasin (459), Deeba Farhat (553), Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan (560) are the other candidates from the state.
