Flood-hit traders of Naidkhai observe shutdown against govt

Naidkhai: The flood hit traders of Naidkhai Sonawari here in Bandipora district observed a strike on Thursday against government’s failure to rehabilitate them.
Scores of businessmen led by traders’ federation president Abdul Ahad Hurra took to streets and blocked the busy Sopore-Sumabal road disturbing the vehicular traffic for hours.
The protesters were chanting slogans against the government demanding compensation for the losses they incurred during floods.
“Ours is a flood affected area and government gave assurances time and again that the compensation will be given but till date we are yet to receive any compensation from the government,” Hurra said.
