16 teachers for 47 students in girls’ school Baramulla

Baramulla: Despite facing shortage of teachers in a number of schools in Baramulla, the education department has deployed 16 teachers for 47 students in girls’ middle school Nay Basti, Noor Bagh.
Locals said that the school was accommodating students of two other schools including primary school Jadeed and primary school Kanlibagh.
The headmaster of the school said that the school had a total roll of 47 students including students from the two primary schools.
The chief education officer was not present for his comments.
Similarly the department has deployed two teachers for a single student in government primary school Bowli of the district.
Official records put the number of students studying in the school at 10, however when some media men visited the school they found only one student and one female teacher present in the school. Another female teacher was on leave.
The teacher present in the school said that there were 10 students on the rolls from KG to 5th class. However, on inspection only one student was present in the school.
The school is being run from a single room.
