Srinagar: Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front along with party leaders on Wednesday held special prayers to pay homage to the mother of pro-freedom leaders, Shakil Ahmad Bakhshi and Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, who passed away on June 29.
In a statement, a Hurriyat (M) spokesman said that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq along with several party leaders visited the residence of Bakshis and expressed solidarity with the family members.
Mirwaiz, according to the statement, while addressing a condolence meeting said that Bakshi family has offered sacrifices and advocated the aspirations of Kashmiris “for which their members were put behind bars and they had to face immense problems.”
Mirwaiz, as per the statement, said the deceased occupies a special status in Kashmir since she always exhibited courage and bravery even though she lost one son to the bullets of occupier while other two remained committed to the cause till date.
JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik also offered condolences to the Bakhshi family at their residence, a spokesman said in a statement.
The spokesman said that the speakers, during the condolence meeting, prayed for the peace of the soul of the deceased.
He said a condolence meeting was also held in Pakistan administered Kashmir which was chaired by JKLF supreme leader Aman Ullah khan.
