Boy, 2, charred to death

Baramulla: A two-year-old was charred to death when fire broke out in a house in Laridora village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Reportedly, fire broke out in a single story house of Showkat Hussain Khan son of Sharif-u-din Khan of Laridora village of Narvaw area here on Wednesday afternoon.
Both Showkat and his wife were working at their fields on the village peripheries when incident took place, eyewitnesses said.
They said that the locals along with local police reached the spot and tried douse the flames. “People were shocked to see the body of two-year-old son of Showkat Hussain while they were trying to clear the debris,” they said.
Numberdar of village, Mohammad Saleem Khan told Kashmir Reader that while Showkat and his wife were out, they had kept two of their children at home. “We found that the two-year-old Mansoor Ahmad was charred to death while as his elder sister Nowsheen 11 managed to escape from the house,” he added.
Reports said that soon after the incident senior officials of police and civil administration headed by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
Station House Officer Chandosa, Zameer Hussain confirmed the death of the boy in the incident. “Body of child has been recovered from the debris of gutted house and police are investigating the incident,” he added.
