SRINAGAR: The authorities Wednesday provided stipend and certificates to 42 candidates who underwent skill development training programme in Jammu’s Kathua district.
The Sub-District Magistrate Basholi, Gurmukh Singh, distributed the certificate and stipend among the candidates who were trained under as electricians, acquired one year diploma in Information Technology, and six months computer course under SJSR scheme, an official handout issued here said.
The programme was organised by District Urban Development Agency (DUDA).
Speaking on the occasion, the SDM highlighted importance of skill development training programmes, through which unemployed youths can generate self employment ventures.
“It is the need of hour that the beneficiaries, especially from the BPL category, learn different skills and take part in economic development of the state,” he said.
Project Officer District Urban Development Agency (DUDA), Jaffar Abass, said in his speech that all the training expenditure was borne by the agency.
He said DUDA organised various skill development programmes in the district.
He highlighted various schemes offered by the Agency, asking the youth to make full use of the facilities made available to them.
He asked the students to come forward to start their own income-generating units, and encouraged public to learn new courses.
