Srinagar: The J&K High Court has issued bailable warrant against Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare department for seeking his presence.
Hearing a petition, a division bench of Justices Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Ali Muhammad Magrey directed its registry to issue bailable warrants for an amount of Rs 20000 for securing the officer’s presence.
The court passed the direction as the officer failed to file fresh compliance report in a case titled Muhammad Amin Beigh Vs state of J&K and others.
It was in the same case that court asked the state government to formulate a scheme for nearly four lakh girls living below poverty line to enable them to live a dignified life and prevent their exploitation.
The court has asked the government to provide such girls a minimum of Rs 25,000 each and five grams of gold at the time of their marriage. The government has identified 3,73,086 girls under the below the poverty line.
