SRINAGAR: The state government Friday asked the authorities to assess the “factual position” of the industrial units’ status, employment generation, and contribution to GDP.
In a meeting held in Jammu, the Minister of State for Industries and Commerce (I&C), Mohammad Ashraf Mir, directed the concerned officers to come up with “the factual position with regard to functional status of industrial units approved, actual employment generated and contribution of such units to the GDP” of the state.
He said the “hardworking, dedicated, and honest officers” working for uplifting the “industrial scenario” of the state would be “suitably” rewarded.
The Minister also asked for setting up of the interdepartmental panels to expedite the process for clearance of industrial projects.
Mir stressed on the need for “use of e-governance tools and best practices to do away with red-tapism for speedy clearances for industrial units”.
He said the industrial clusters should be created in the state with the specific purpose of developing ancillary units.
In the clusters, he said, all raw materials should be manufactured locally for use in other industrial units “so as to foster sustainable and dynamic industrial estates”.
“All centre-sponsored schemes should be harnessed for the industrial development of the state,” he said.
The issues related to field staff, land bank, awareness among entrepreneurs, sponsored schemes, and basic infrastructure were discussed in the meeting.
