Family hails ‘apt’ verdict

Kupwara: As the court on Friday awarded death penalty to four convicts in Tabinda Gani rape and murder case, family of the victim as well as locals of Kupwara hailed the verdict as “apt”.
“No one can heal our wounds but we got some relief by the verdict,” brother of late Tabinda told Kashmir Reader, emphasizing that the family wanted the death sentence for the convicts as a deterrent to others.
“This penalty will stop such crimes in future. It is very apt for the crime committed by the convicts,” he said.
Father of the victim, who was present in the court along with hundreds of people, at the time of verdict hailed the judiciary.
“We were expecting this verdict and it is appropriate for the crime. But the final satisfaction will come when the convicts meet to their ultimate fate,” Tabinda’s father told the media outside court room after the verdict was announced.
Spokesperson of civil society group—Tabinda Gani Forum—Kifayat Ullah Shah, who is also uncle of Tabinda, said thousands of people across Kupwara feel relived as the culprits have been awarded death penalty.
President traders federation Handwara, Ajaz Ahmad, president traders federation Kupwara Haji Gulam Mohammad Mir, president traders federation Sopore Haji Mohammad Ashraf, president industrial estate Sopore Javid Ahmad Bhat and general secretary traders federation Baramulla Er Tariq Ahmad Magloo also hailed the verdict.
“We hope all the four will hanged till death very soon,” they said while appreciating that Session Judge’s verdict.
