Feuding teachers lock down school

Baramulla: The residents of Cholan area of Uri staged a protest demonstration against the Education department after feuding teachers locked down a local school on Thursday.
Locals said that the four teachers, belonging to two different communities, are at loggerheads with each other. “Two teachers belong to one community while as two others belong to another community. They have been fighting each other from past many years,” Sajad Ahmad, a local, said.
He said that on Wednesday, the teachers clashed with each other over some issue and in the fit of anger locked down the school.
They locals said that they approached the concerned Zonal Education Officer Chandanwari in this regard. “We approached the ZEO but he expressed helplessness instead of resolving the issue.
They locals said that the feud among the teachers was affecting the student community to a large extent.
Meanwhile the students of government higher secondary school Uri protest against the education department on Thursday against the shortage of teachers.
Reprts said that the protesting students blocked the Srinagar-Muzafarabad road at main market Uri disrupting traffic movement for some time.
Later, after assurances by the SDM Uri, the protestors dispersed off peacefully.
