Narbal: Shutdown, protests continue

Srinagar: Anger against the police had not subsided, as the town demonstrated against the killing on the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday despite heavy deployment of government forces. A constable had shot dead Suhail in “cold blood” from a close range on the orders of his offi cer. Protesters pelted the forces with stones after being prevented from demonstrating in a peaceful manner, local residents told Kashmir Reader. The clashes continued for quite some time, they said. However, Budgam superintendent of police Fayaz Ahmad Lone said the area remained peaceful by and large and the clashes occurred briefl y. Senior resistance leaders Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Asiya Andrabi, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Zaffar Akbar Bhat visited the family and expressed solidarity.
