SRINAGAR: The state’s Tourism Department is participating in the ongoing three-day Great Indian Travel Bazzar-2015 (GITB) at Jaipur.
An official release here said the exhibition started on April 19 in Jaipur’s Exhibition Convention Centre (JECC).
“In a bid to promote Jammu and Kashmir as a tourism destination in the global markets, a team of J&K Tourism, led by Director Tourism Kashmir/Managing Director Tourism JKTDC, Farooq Ahmad Shah, participated in the event,” it said.
The Great Indian Travel Bazaar-2015 has been organised by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce (FICCI), providing an opportunity to the tourist states to do business with buyers from across the globe, it said.
J&K Tourism, it said, participated as a partner state to “grab the opportunity for business with international buyers who participated in the event in large number”.
“The main feature of GITB is to ensure participation of maximum foreign buyers in the mega event…,” it said, adding that as many as 275 foreign buyers from different countries are participating in the event.
About 252 exhibition booths have been set up at the exhibition, it said. It said various companies are showcasing a range of tourism and travel services to visitors at the event.
Inbound travel services, hotel and resort facilities, spa services, tour planning services, and medical equipments are among some chief items exhibited at the show include, it said.
Heritage travel options, safari services, adventure travel concepts, hospitality facilities, vacationing ideas and travel bureau services are being showcased, it said, adding that international travel and tourism services, cruise facilities, aquatic services, beach travel supplies, accommodation options, rail and air transportation facilities, car rental services and governmental tourism services are also being highlighted.
Joy Travels Pvt Ltd and Peppermint Hotels are among the several leading companies participating in the exhibition, the release said,
“On the first day of the event, a large number of international buyers visited J&K Tourism stall at JECC and interacted with tourism and travel bodies for business,” it added.
Shah, according to the release, told the buyers theta J&K is “the only state in the world which possesses all kind of tourism products be it leisure, skiing, rafting, pilgrimage, heritage, golfing, angling, border tourism, trekking, mountaineering, and rock climbing”.
