Prioritize revenue realization to prevent losses: Dy CM to PDD

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh on Sunday asked the Power Development Department (PDD) officials to form inspection squads and conduct vigorous inspections to check aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses.
“Dr Singh directed PDD to lay emphasis on the recovery of revenue which is the major issue and exhorted upon the concerned officers to frame inspection squads and conduct vigorous inspections to check the AT&C losses which was presently very high,”an official spokesman quoting minutes of the meeting, chaired by Dr Singh, said.
The spokesman said that the Dy CM also urged the department to provide uninterrupted supply of electricity during the approaching summer season.
He said the meeting was held to review the performance of the department.
Speaking on the occasion Deputy Chief Minister impressed upon the officers to take all necessary steps to prevent frequent damages to the distribution system and transformers. He also directed the concerned for immediate reporting of the same to the higher authorities for immediate replacement of the transformers to avoid unnecessary inconvenience to the people.
Dr Singh further directed the officers to work in a coordinated way to achieve the desired results.
He said that for the dedicated and high performers suitable rewards will be given so that best possible services will be provided to the consumers. He also stressed on PDD authorities to be sensitive towards the grievances of the people and make efforts to address any issues especially pertaining to uninterrupted supply of electricity.
Dr. Singh also said that it is the duty of the Government to provide all basic amenities like uninterrupted supply of electricity as the summer season is approaching and to provide the best service the department must take necessary steps to prevent the damages of transformers and curb the practices like theft and misuse of electricity.
