PAHALGAM: Bollywood star Salman Khan’s presence in picturesque Pahalgam for the shooting of his film has turned the area out of bounds not only for the locals but for tourists as well.
As Salman Khan began shooting for Kabir Khan directed movie, Bajrangi Bhai, in Mamal Pahalgam, Police and CRPF laid a siege around the whole area to ensure the ‘smooth shooting of the film’.
Hundreds of fans of the star who had come to see their favorite actor in action had to return disappointed as the forces barred them from reaching the shooting site.
Tourists had heated arguments with police and CRPF after being stopped from visiting the area.
“We came here to enjoy the nature and have spent 2 lakh rupees for the tour. They are bothered about Salman Khan and don’t allow us to move ahead from here,” said a visibly angry Gujrati tourist, Neelam.
Her sister, Depika, said, “We are moving back tomorrow. If they don’t allow us to see the spot this time we can never see it. It is surprising that they have curbed our movement for Bollywood people”.
Besides the inconvenience caused to the tourists, hundreds of local fans of Khan were either seen waiting for the completion of the shoot to see him on his return.
“I have been waiting here since morning. I begged before these policemen to allow me to go ahead but they did not listen,” said Mohammad Shafi.
Another admirer of the star, Zahoor Ahmad, after being barred from reaching the shooting site angrily left the spot. “Films are shot in every part of India but in Kashmir film shooting means restrictions,” he said.
