Valley protests Tral killing, 7 injured in police action

Srinagar: At least seven persons sustained injuries Friday in violent protests in Sher-e-Khas here over the killing of two youth inTral in Pulwama district.
The protest broke after the Friday prayers when scores of youth assembled in different streets, shouting anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.
The police and the paramilitary forces resorted to tear smoke shelling and fired several shots in the air injuring at least seven people.
The clashes between the youth and the paramilitary forces were reported from Nowhatta, Safakadal, Khanyar, Khayam and other areas of the city.
In Nowhatta, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairperson Mirwaiz Umer Farooq led a demonstration against the killing of youth at Tral.
Mirwaiz criticized the government for arresting Masrat Alam and Syed Ali Shah Geelani and blamed the state for deliberately creating law and order problem.
“They incarcerate innocent youth and accuse the pro-freedom leaders of violating law and creating disturbances. Actually the state government breaks the law and unleashes terror on the common people,” Mirwaiz said.
Clashes between youth and the paramilitary forces have been reported from the other areas of Kashmir too.
In Baramulla district, thousands of people came on the streets after Friday prayers and shouted anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. They also chanted slogans against Indian media for “selling lies about Kashmir and blurring the truth”. The protesters also raised pro-Pakistan slogans.
The protesters demanded the release of pro-freedom leader and Muslim League Chairman Masrat Alam Bhat, who was arrested yesterday late in the night. They also protested against the arrest of Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairperson Syed Ali Geelani.
Protests were reported from Palhalan and Sopore areas and many people have been injured in the ensuing clashes.
