Tral remains shut

ANANTNAG: Tral township of southern Pulwama district continued to remain shut for the third consecutive day Thursday over the killing of a youth in army firing on Monday.
Khalid Muzafar Wani, the brother of a local militant commander was killed by the army in Kamla forests of the area Monday afternoon. Though army claimed that he was killed in the exchange of fire between them and the militants, his family contested the army claim alleging that he was tortured to death. The killing had triggered violent protests in the town and adjoining areas on Tuesday, however the authorities on Wednesday fearing more violent protests put severe restrictions on the movement of the people. Reports said that amid deployment of forces on the entry and exit points leading to town shutdown continued in the area for the third running day today. All the shops ,business establishments, private offices and educational institutions remained closed in the town while traffic was off the roads.
