Three months on, Bhaderwah village without electricity

JAMMU: Residents of Upper Dandi village in Bhaderwah have been reeling under darkness for want of a transformer for the past three months.
The residents accused Power Development Department (PDD) of failing to install a transformer feeding power to 40 households of the village on upper side of Chaka area in the district.
“Exams of our children are going on and there is no electricity. The PDD Executive Engineer Doda was requested several times to replace or repair the transformer but the issue still remains unattended,” said Farooq Ahmed, a villager.
The villagers alleged that PDD authorities in Doda headquarter were not sensitive towards the grievances of the people. “Many times we visited Executive Engineer at Doda but no action was taken by him,” said a resident.
The villgers warned that they would be coming on roads, if the transformer of their area was not replaced immediately. The villagers urged the state administration to take serious note of the matter and take strict action against the ‘erring officer’ in Doda.
