SRINAGAR: Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, Northern Region Transmission System – II Jammu, Tuesday celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimarao Ramji Ambedkar across its establishments in the Northern Region-II.
A press statement issued here said homage was paid to Dr Ambedkar, while painting and debate competitions were held along with various cultural programmes to highlight his life and contributions.
“The employees, their family members and children took active interest and were full of enthusiasm to showcase their talent,” it said.
“The beautiful and expressive drawings added to the glory of the events. The paintings made by the children showcased their respect and awareness about the contribution made by Dr Bhimarao Ramji Ambedkar in our nation building.”
In the event, organised at its Regional Headquarters in Jammu, S D Joshi GM (Projects) was the chief guest, it said, adding AGM (PESM) Ajay Holani, DGM (Finance) B Dash, Chief Manager (HR) R Narayan, and several other officials of Power Grid participated in this function with their family members. Joshi, it said, highlighted the role of Dr Ambedkar in ‘amelioration of the cause of the downtrodden and weaker sections of society”.
He urged upon the children to follow his path and help in making India a socially-developed nation, it added. The programme ended with prize distribution among the winners of various competitions organized on this occasion, it said.
Principal of the School S K Agarwal and Vice President of Sawera Foundation Y P Khajuria also appreciated in the event, it said, adding that he thanked Power Grid for its “noble gesture to celebrate such festivals with downtrodden and weaker sections”.
J P Singh urged upon the children to live with dignity and honour, it said.
He, it said, expressed his happiness to be a part of these celebrations, and stressed “on the fact that all Human beings are equal and they must lead their lives with self respect and self belief”.
Highlighting the role of Dr Ambedkar, he advised the children “to study hard and avail the opportunity provided to them in the same manner as was done by Baba Sahib”.
The children of the school also expressed their thoughts on the role of Dr Ambedkar in development, winning appreicattions from the audience, it said.
