Min bats for uninterrupted irrigation facility to farmers

SRINAGAR: Minister for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sukhnandan Chowdhary, Tuesday said uninterrupted irrigation facility shall be provided to farmers during the growing season to ensure high yield of crops.
Inaugurating Baisakhi Mela-2015 at Canal Head in Jammu, the Minister said the government would employ latest technology and machinery to upgrade the irrigation facilities in the state, “so that the agriculture production, which is the mainstay of the state’s economy, gets a boost to, in turn, lead to economic prosperity of the people”.
Terming the unity in diversity “hallmark of J&K’s pluralistic ethos”, he eulogized the role of Sikh community in socioeconomic emancipation of the state.
“The PDP-BJP coalition government is committed to uplift people in all the regions of the state, irrespective of caste creed and colour,” he said, seeking people’s cooperation in realizing “the dream of making J&K politically stable and economically vibrant”. Special prayers were organized on the occasion for better weather conditions and consistent supply of irrigation water.
