Local MLA demands magisterial probe

SHABIR AHMAD

ANANTNAG: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA Tral, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah Tuesday demanded a magisterial inquiry into the killing of a militant commander’s brother, Khalid Muzaffar, by the army. “The way civilian was killed by the army in forest area of Tral is highly doubtful. I have conveyed to the party leadership that a magisterial inquiry be conducted into the incident,” Shah told Kashmir Reader.
He said that army’s claim that Khalid was killed during the gun fight between them and the militants is also confusing. “How is it possible that only one youth out of four who had gone to meet the militants will get killed in the exchange of fire and rest including the militants escape unhurt,” Shah said.
He said that the army has clearly violated the standard operation procedure (SOP) while carrying out operation against the militants.“Even if army’s version is to be believed,  they have failed to  follow the standard operating procedure the SOP. Why they did not inform the police before launching the operation has also created doubts. So all these things need to be probed,” MLA said.
