SRINAGAR: The authorities Monday acted against several dealers who were found indulging in sale of substandard pesticides and fertilizers.
An official handout issued here said the Law Enforcement wing of the Agriculture Department raided various stores of Pesticides and Fertilizers in Kulgam, Pulwama and Baramulla districts of Kashmir Valley.
Law Enforcement Inspector Pulwama booked Qureshi Agro Chemicals at Shadimarg, Manzoor Ahmad Dar of Drubgam, and Mushtaq Enterprises at Noorpora Tral, it said, adding they were found operating in contravention of Insecticides Act 1968.
“A huge quantity of pesticides was seized from these dealers,” it said.
Law Enforcement Inspector Kulgam, it said, booked Naikoo Farooq of Zaban Yaripora, Bhat Agro Chemicals of Laisoo Kulgam, Aijaz Ahmad Alaie of DH Pora, Javaid Pesticides of DH Pora, Bhat Agro Chemicals of Khul Noorabad, Mohhammd Iqbal Alie of DH Pora, Shahjehan Pesticides of Punewah Bugam, Fayaz Ahmad Chak of Nagam, Bashir Ahmad Bhat of Samnoo Nehama and Bhat Pesticides at Khukherhama Nehama.
The deluders were running their business in contravention of Insecticides Act 1968, it added.
In Baramulla, the Law Enforcement Inspector recommended suspension of Insecticides License of Parrey Agro Chemicals, Hygam, Malik Pesticides, Warpora Sopore, Zahoor Pesticides, Dangiwachi, Dar Pesticides Sopore, Bashir Ahmad Lone Dangiwachi and Zahoor Pesticides Watergam.
The dealers were also found violating the norms, it said. In Shopian, the Law Enforcement Inspector lodged FIR against Arshid Ahmad Malik of Bunbazar over violation of Fertilizer Control Order 1985, it said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Director Law Enforcement Kashmir has advised orchardists and farmers to ask for Cash Memo from the dealers while purchasing pesticides, fertilizers or seeds.
