Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) said on Tuesday that it will decide about the inclusion of the six rebels of the parallel faction in the advisory council meet scheduled to be held on Thursday, a day after its chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani is scheduled to arrive from Delhi.
The six rebels, Zafar Akber Bhat of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Saleem Geelani of Jammu and Kashmir National Peoples Party, Hakeem Abdur Rashid of Muslim League, Yasmeen Raja of Muslim Khwateen Markaz, Bashir Andrabi of Kashmir Freedom Front and Shahid Saleem of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement have expressed their desire to join Hurriyat Conference led by veteran leader Syed Ali Geelani, the conglomerate’s spokesman Ayaz Akber told Kashmir Reader.
He said the desire of joining Hurriyat Conference (G) has been expressed by the six members through one of their representatives last week.
“The meeting will be chaired by Geelani Sahab. The decision about the entrants will be taken after considering their party strength, track record and their stand on the 1993 Hurriyat Constitution that rejects elections and the bilateral talks,” Akber said.
“And if the majority approves their inclusion, a 3-member committee will work on the modalities,” said Akber.
He said that the doors of the conglomerate were open for the likeminded people and the parties which stand by the 1993 constitution. He said the amalgam will never tolerate those people in its folds who fielded proxy candidates in elections.
“On August 28 last year, we had given a unity call to one and all. However, due to floods, we could not work more on it. We will welcome every person and party if they believe that the solution of Kashmir dispute lies in implementation of UN resolution or tripartite talks,” Akber added.
