Cong for time-bound probe into drowning of youth

SRINAGAR: State Congress Vice President and MLC Ghulam Nabi MongaMonday demanded a time-bound probe into the death of two persons allegedly due to unannounced release of water from a power project in Uri.
In a statement Monga said that government should constitute a committee to look into the incident which should file its report within a week so that the reasons behind the incident are known.”
“Those officials, found responsible for the deaths shall be punished so that such incidents aren’t repeated,” he demanded.
The two persons drowned on Sunday allegedly due to unannounced release of water from a power project in river Jhelum in Bimyar, Uri.
While expressing over the incident, the Congress leader conveyed condolences to the bereaved families. He also demanded ex-gratia compensation to their families.
