Kathua traders fined Rs 23,600

SRINAGAR: The authorities in Jammu’s Kathua district booked 14 traders who were found violating the rules and recovered from them fine to the tune of Rs 23,600.
An official handout issued here said a team of the legal Metrology Department conducted inspected business establishments including gas agencies, provisional stores,  and bakeries in Chappaki, Mangloor, Hiranagar,Ramkpt, Chadwal, Dayalachck, Kharkara, Rajbagh, Kalibari, Lakhanpur, and Kathua town of the district.
During Inspection about 52 business establishments of traders were inspected, of which 14 were found operating in violation of various provisions of the J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 1997 and Package Commodities Rules, it said. “Twelve Challans of the booked traders were compounded by the Assistant Controller Legal metrology Kathua and a penality of Rs 23, 600 was imposed on the erring traders during the current month,” it said.
