SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura Friday asked for constitution of joint teams of Agriculture and Revenue departments to assess crop losses suffered by farmers due to the recent rains.
“The joint teams of Agriculture and Revenue Department shall assess the extent of damage to the standing crops including vegetables and other cultivations” the Minister instructed during his tour to various affected areas of Kathua district in Jammu region.
Hanjura asked for close coordination between the officers of the departments, saying “their joint efforts will help in speedy assessment of the losses”.
He asked them to prepare detailed report and submit the same to the government so that compensation is given to the deserving people.
The Minister directed the officers to aware farmers about state and centrally-sponsored schemes by organising awareness camps at block levels.
He said that the PDP-BJP government is committed to provide better basic amenities to all.
“The state government is people’s government. It has a missionary vision to provide good governance to the people and work towards all round development of the state,” he added.
MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Raj, MLA Kathua Rajiv Jasrotia, and General Secretary PDP Daman Bhasin also interacted with the farmers at different places.
They also assured the farmers of every possible help from the government.
