Jammu: The government Thursday withdrew allotment of 103.5 kanals of land to 34 units at Kathua and Bari Brahmana in Jammu region.
An official handout issued here said the move was taken by the Divisional Level Single Window Clearance Committee of the Department of Industries and Commerce (I&FC) after the allottees failed to establish the units, which were only provisionally registered thus far.
“The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Committee held under the chairmanship of Director I&FC Jammu, Dr Abdul Rashid,” it said.
After detailed discussions over the unutilised land, the decision was taken to cancel the allotments of 101 kanals of land at Kathua and 2.5 kanals at Bari Brahmana, the handout said.
“The land, which had been unnecessarily locked and blocked, will be allotted to genuine prospective entrepreneurs in the next meeting of the Committee,” it added.
The Committee, as per the statement, also cleared the cases of 15 entrepreneurs, allotting to them 40.12 kanals of land for establishing of the units.
These units are likely to generate employment for 226 persons and will result in investments to the tune of about Rs 7.32 crore, it said.
