Protests in Tangmarg after police arrests two persons

BARAMULLA: Protests rocked Tangmarg town after the arrest of two persons following a complaint by block medical officer (BMO) of the area against the duo.
Tariq Ahmad Lone and Manzoor Ahmad Lone, residents of Qazipora Tangmarg, were arrested by police after an FIR was lodged by BMO Tangmarg Dr. Anjum Qadri for allegedly misbehaving with her. Both the accused have been released on bail.
Eyewitnesses said that as soon as the news of the incident spread, people of Qazipora came out and blocked Srinagar-Gulmarg road raising slogans against BMO Tangmarg. The people protested for hours together affecting vehicular movement on the road.
The protesters demanded immediate reshuffle of the staff of sub district hospital Tangmarg.
Sub District Magistrate Tangmarg Sheikh Abdul Qayoom said that he has taken up the demands of locals with higher authorities. “The reshuffle of the staff will be done after the assembly session,” he said.
