GANDERBAL: Hundreds of daily wage government employees in Ganderbal Tuesday held a protest demanding regularization of their services.
The employees from the departments like Tourism, PHE, R&B, Forest, Horticulture, Floriculture, Agriculture, and others marched towards the district magistrate’s office.
The daily rated workers carrying placards and banners assembled under the banner of Ganderbal Casual Daily Wagers Forum where the union leaders addressed them.
President of the forum Muhammed Ismail Kambay said that the previous successive government “did nothing” for their regularization.
“About 60,000 families are facing the problems due to the delay caused by authorities. The poor, helpless and starving employees have been repeatedly baton charged and detained to deny them their genuine rights,” he said.
The daily-wagers threatened that they would be coming on roads on daily basis in case government did not regularize their services.
