Chenab Valley to get more SRTC buses

JAMMU: The Minister of State for Transport Abdul Gani Kohli Tuesday asked the authorities to provide more JK State Road Transport Corporation buses in districts of the Chenab Valley.
Kohli, as per an official handout, asked the Transport Department to utilize some of the JKSRTC’s buses, used on interstate roads, for providing transport facilities to residents in the areas such as Rajouri, Poonch, and R S Pura.
He gave the instructions after meeting the Legislators Shakti Raj, Daleep Singh, Dr Gagan Bhagat, and other representatives, it said.
“These Legislators apprised the Minister about the problems being faced by the people of their respective areas. They demanded that Special Mini Buses should be arranged for stranded passengers of Chenab Valley…,” it added.
The Minister, it said, assured them that the government is committed to provide better transport facilities to the people in every nook and corner of the state.
The directions have already been given to the concerned for extending comfortable transport facilities on routes to Chenab Valley, the Minister said, adding “most of the stranded passengers of the Chenab Valley have been provided transport facilities by the JKSRTC.”
Kohli also directed “for early procuring of the leftover fleet under JnURM from Government of India by taking up the matter with the concerned quarters.”
