SC dismisses Resutra’s plea against sacking as BOSE chairman

Srinagar: The Supreme Court of India on Monday dismissed as withdrawn a Special Leave petition (SLP) filed by Prof R K Resutra against J&K High Court orders, directing him to step down as chairman of J&K State Board of School Education.
Standing counsel of Jammu and Kashmir State in Supreme Court, Ashok Mathur said that a bench of the apex court headed by Justice Vikramajit Sen dismissed the petition as withdrawn.
In the third week of December last year, the apex court had ordered stay on the High Court’s order even as it had issued notice to the government in the matter.
Earlier on December 11, the High Court besides asking Rasutra to step down had directed government to suspend order of his appointment as the chairman.
It had also directed Secretary Government Higher Education Department as well as Secretary School Education Department to pass appropriate orders suspending the SRO-542 by virtue of which Rastura’s appointment was notified on 22 October last year.
