Srinagar: Special prayers were offered at several mosques, shrines and Imam Baras across the Valley to invoke Allah’s mercy to prevent the reoccurrence of floods here in view of the incessant rains from past week.
According to a statement issued by Hurriyat Conference (M) special prayers were offered at places including Jamia Masjid here.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, as per the statement, led the prayers at Jamia Masjid in which large number of people participated.
Later on, as per the statement, Mirwaiz while addressing the gathering said that within the span of six months, Allah has again put Kashmiris to test.
He said the continuous rains have wrecked havoc and devastation in Kashmir.
Terming the looming threat of floods as a cause of worry, he said many people have been killed, infrastructure damage and people have become homeless as their houses collapsed to due landslides and flood.
Mirwaiz said the current situation should turn people closer to Allah and they should follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in letter and spirit.
Mirwaiz also prayed for the victims of Laden, Budgam beseeching Allah to grant them place in jannat.
