SRINAGAR: The J&K Bank Friday opened one more branch at Mantalai in Udhampur district of Jammu region.
In a press statement issued here, the Bank said its Cluster Head for Udhampur, S Iqbal Singh, inaugurated the branch. Speaking on the occasion, he urged people to utilize the facilities offered by the bank, it said.
Located near the proposed International Yoga Centre, the branch is the Bank’s 27th in the district, it said, adding the heads of Mantalai, Sudhmahadev, and Chenani branches were among several prominent persons present in the inaugural event.
Meanwhile, the Bank said its Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling (FLCC) centre in Kashmir’s Budgam district organised many awareness camps during the last month. Hundreds of people from different walks of life were counselled on matters pertaining to finance and banking, it added.
It said the FLCC organised a camp in collaboration with Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) at Hakermulla, training the women from the institute in Sozni and Ari works.
They were also provided Artisan Credit Cards (ACC) prepared by the Handicrafts Department, it said.
The Facilitator FLCC, A H Rafiqi, informed the participants about the ACC Loan Scheme and educated them about the interest subsidy available from the Handicraft Department, it said, adding that they were also advised to boost their activity by availing the credit facility from the Bank and ensure timely repayments. The participants were also informed about the importance of opening Basic Saving Bank Account under PMJDY, it said.
Similar camps were conducted at Hushroo and Pallar while employment fairs were held in Chadura and Budgam, the Bank said. Two sessions of credit counselling programmes to the Entrepreneurs under PMEGP scheme at RSETI were also held, it added.
