Chekpora,Kanihama residents lock down PDD receiving station

SRINAGAR: Unable to get electricity for the past one week angry residents of Chekpora Kanihama locked Power Development Department’s receiving station at Baghat Kanipora.
The angry residents on Wednesday while assembling in the main chowk of Kanihama protested against snapping of electricity to their area for the past one-week. As no PDD official came forward to dissipate their concern the angry protestors moved towards BK Pora receiving station and locked all the gates. Advocate Abdul Hamid Dar told Kashmir Reader that their area has been deprived of electricity without any reason. He said that they tried to contact the assistant executive engineer Bashir Ahmad Raina but he was never found in his office.
On Thursday the residents again held protest. Dar said that despite repeated protests only two hours of electricity was restored to their area. “We fail to understand why electricity has been snapped to our area without any cause. If we are not paying fee or are indulging in hooking, at least tell us,” Dar said. He said that the whole area is facing a number of problems without electricity. The residents of the area have appealed chief engineer to look into the matter.
When Kashmir Reader called the AEE’s number his incoming calls were barred.
