GoI reviews flood situation

Srinagar: The state government Wednesday apprised the government of India about the measures taken in view of the incessant rainfall across the Valley from past few days.
According to an official handout, Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday informed the Union Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth about present situation and measures being taken to combat any eventuality via video conferencing
The official statement said that the Khanday informed the Seth administration was in full alert and every step is being taken to safeguard public life and property.
“Water level which crossed danger mark earlier in Srinagar is gradually receding and the river is flowing below the danger mark. However, the MeT office predictions are cause of concern and government has geared up its men and machinery to combat any eventuality,” Khanday told Seth.
“He informed that essentials have been adequately stocked for distribution,” the handout said further.
