Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Monday wrote a letter to Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif appealing him to play a role of facilitator between the Saudi Arabia and Iran to resolve the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
In a statement, a spokesman said that Geelani also wrote that Sharif must try to call ameeting of the heads of the organization of the Islamic countries (OIC) to find resolve the conflict.
“Instead of becoming the part of this unholy war, Pakistan should play a vital role of a mediator,” he said.
“It is only possible when the foreign policies of this country are liberated of the American influence.”
Geelani, in a letter, has also written that situation in Iraq, Syria and now Yemen were disturbing very concerning for the Muslims of the world. “Pakistan government can play a very vital role in this serious situations and their intervention can change these situations in favor of the Muslims,” the statement quoting excerpts of the letter said.
“Creation of a strong Muslim block of the Muslim countries and reconciliation of all the big and small disputes between them should be the priority of the foreign policies of the Pakistan.”
