CM visits Lal Chowk, meets traders

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed Monday visited Lal Chowk here to meet the traders whose shops have been facing threat of inundation.
Sayeed, as per an official handout issued here, assured the traders that his government would take “all required steps to prevent water logging.”
The CM said the government would next month start distribution of relief and subsequent rehabilitation of the flood-affected people in a three-phased manner.
“The smalltime businessmen, traders and destitute who don’t have any insurance cover will be taken up in the first phase,” he said.
Sayeed has been supervising the administration’s effort to deal with the situation, the statement said, adding that he has instructed the authorities to press into service all dewatering pumps in the city. He was accompanied by the Minister for Public Works, Syed Altaf Bukhari, and Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb A Drabu.
