DEATHS DUE TO ‘NEGLIGENCE’ : Minister visit Baramulla hospital, assures action

Baramulla: Health Minister Asiya Naqash Saturday visited District Hospital here, a day after three people died at the healthcare facility due to alleged   medical negligence.
Besides holding a meeting with the hospital authorities, Asiya also checked  the medical reports of the deceased patients.
Sumander Faqeer, Bakhti Begum and  Hajra Begum had  died yesterday after they were allegedly administered sub-standard and expired drugs by the doctors and the paramedics at the hospital, triggering protests by attendants and locals and prompting authorities to order a probe.
Speaking to reporters later, Asiya said the deaths were being probed and assured action if anybody is found guilty of negligence.
Asiya also met with a delegation of traders and civil society members and assured them that government will provide more doctors along with modern machinery to the district hospital Deputy commissioner Baramulla Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, chief medical officer Dr Abdul Karim, superintendent district hospital Baramulla Dr Bashir Ahmad, Tehsildar Baramulla Nazir Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
