Srinagar: An awareness camp on cattle rearing was organised Saturday in Chanderkote area of the Ramban district.
The camp was organised by the District Sheep Husbandry department, with the District Sheep Husbandry Officer (DSHO) Dr V K Kalsotra presiding over it.
Representative of Gujjar and Bakerwal Community and a number of farmers attended the function.
Speakers appreciated the department’s role in organising the awareness camps and making people aware about various welfare schemes.
They asked the participants to avail maximum benefit of the schemes offered by the government departments, suggesting that the programmes shall be held at the panchayat level in future for benefit of the rural masses.
The DSHO asked the farmers to utilize the resources made available to them, while he highlighted the department’s schemes for promotion of sheep and goats in the region.
The veterinary doctors associated with the department asked the farmers to follow scientific method in cattle rearing.
