Palhalan Youth’s Killing: Probe report unmasks state’s anti-people policy: Hurriyat (M)

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) Thursday said that the magisterial inquiry holding the government forces responsible for the killing of Palhalan youth “unmasks the anti-people activities and the policy of violence undertaken by the government forces against the innocent Kashmiris.”
A youth, Farooq Ahmad Bhat  was killed in forces firing on Feb 9 in Palhalan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement, a Hurriyat (M) spokesman said that party has  demanded impartial and independent probe of all such incidents which involved killing of innocent people by the government forces in Kashmir.
“Despite the so-called probe commissions constituted to investigate the innocent killings, in the past no offender was brought to justice, not a single trooper arrested, held guilty or awarded punishment for committing the crimes against humanity in Kashmir.”
“In fact such actions on part of the state, against the Kashmiries are continuously being provided legal immunity and government patronage under the grab of draconian laws like AFSPA PSA etc,” he added.
The spokesman said that probe commissions have proved to be  “mere eyewash and have been used as a ploy to mislead the international community.”
“Palhalan incident aptly unmasks the anti-people activities and the policy of violence undertaken by the government forces against the innocent Kashmiris.”
He said the magisterial inquiry and on the spot evidences also deflates the claims of the state government that the protesters provoked the troops for opening fire on them “which often has become a common excuse with the forces after they shoot any unarmed civilian in Kashmir.”
The spokesman demanded that all the guilty forces personnel involved in the Palhallan youth’s killing should be brought to justice and prosecuted.
He also demanded impartial probe and prosecution of the offenders in all bloody and gruesome incidents involving government forces which took place in Kashmir like those of ChiitiSinghpora, Hawal, Khanyar, Bejbehara, Gawkadal, Handawara and  Kupwara massacres and also Pathribal and Machil fake encounters.
