Jammu: Jammu Municipal Corporation Wednesday sealed a residential building at Gandhi Nagar which was allegedly converted into commercial building against the prescribed land use of the area.
In a statement, a JMC spokesman said that the JMCs enforcement staff on directions of Commissioner Soujanya Kumar Sharma sealed the premises of one Neelam Jain wife of Pardeep Jain at 90 A/D, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The spokesman said that the building was being used for commercial purposes against the set rules. He said that the action has been taken under the provision of section 8 (1) of J&K Control of Building Operation Act 1988.
Besides this, the spokesman said , while further continuing and intensifying the drive vigorously to clear the footpaths, pavements from encroachments, the team visited the area at Rail Head Complex, Trikuta Nagar near Railway Station and removed the encroachment from footpaths and pavements.
The spokesman said goods including barrels, tables, chairs, utensils, containers, bamboos, tarpaulins etc which had been erected and kept by hawkers / Reharies owners were seized by the JMC authorities.
