Rhetoric about dialogue resumption eyewash: Malik

Srinagar: JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Sunday said that rhetoric about resumption of talks on resolving the Kashmir issue was “merely eyewash aimed at fulfilling hidden agendas.”
Malik also alleged that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was “deputed here to fulfill the agenda of RSS and BJP for integrating J&K with India and forcefully convert Muslims and Christians to Hinduism.”
“From Governor to BJP chief Amit Shah and Mufti Sayeed, all are talking about resolving Kashmir issue. By saying so these people actually want to finish off every sort of resistance from Kashmir and integrate it with India,” Malik told a rally at Kulgam, according to a JKLF spokesman.
“On one hand they talk of dialogue between Indian and Pakistan or India and Kashmir and on the other they talk about integrating Kashmiris with India and (that there would be) no compromise on national interests and so on,” Malik said.
This, he said, was a clear contradiction that the rhetoric of dialogue and resolving Kashmir was a “ploy to hoodwink international opinion, befool common masses and consume as much time as they could.”
“What is the purpose of holding dialogue when there is no intention to resolve Kashmir issue?” he asked.
The JKLF chief said that for talks to be successful, the parties involved should show sincerity by convincing their people. “A suitable environment is created through media and other means and people are made ready for settlements etc. But in this case, Indian government has adopted a hard-line rhetoric.”
He said that talks between Indian and Pakistan or between New Delhi and Kashmiris were futile exercises.
He also castigated CM Mufti for his statement to integrate people of state with rest of India. “It is actually RSS agenda. Recent statements of Indian leaders and Mufti Sayeed about integrating Kashmir with India should open the eyes of those who were befooled by PDP and other pro-India parties during recent election campaigns.”
He said that all pro-India parties in Kashmir talk of resolving Kashmir when they are out of power. “Parties like NC, PDP talk of resolving Kashmir issue when they are out of power but as soon as they get power they change colors like chameleon.”
“NC and Congress politicians hanged Mohammad Afzal Guru and refused him a proper burial, but these hypocrites are now asking for the return of his mortal remains,” he added.
He said that Kashmiris will have to safeguard their identity, religion and symbols of faith. “Now when the hidden agenda of PDP is exposed we should oppose them by all means,” he said.
“Be it PDP or NC,BJP, Congress or Communists or any small or big group, all pro-India politicians are surrogates of Indian state whose only job is to safeguard Indian interests here,” the JKLF chief said.
Referring to the issue of settlement of West Pakistan refugees in the state, Malik said, “No one will be allowed to change the demography of Kashmir in the name of these refugees and we will spill our blood to safeguard the Muslim majority status of Jammu Kashmir.”
