Government to webcast today’s Budget session

SRINAGAR: The state government has started a pilot project for live webcast of the budget session scheduled to be held in Jammu on Sunday.
In a handout issued here on Saturday, the government said the initiative has been taken with an intention “to bring in transparency”.
“The initiative is a joint effort of Finance Department and IT Department. It is the first time in the history of J&K that such an IT initiative has been taken,” it said.
The pilot project has been initiated by Minister for Information Technology, Imran Hussain Ansari, with support from the Secretary IT, Saurabh Bhagat, it said.
The project is being managed by the team of State e-Governance Mission under the supervision of Shafqat Bashir, it added.
“The budget session will be telecast live on the website of Finance Department… and the recording will be available in the archives,” the government said, adding that the Minister intends to make it a permanent feature.
“In addition to above initiative, the IT Department intends to (enable) the Question Management System and Online Answer Management System, which will be made online shortly,” it added.
