BGSBU’s girl students offered low-interest loans

SRINAGAR: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Saturday organised a camp to help its girl students to get low-interest loans educational loans offered by the J&K Women Development Corporation (WDC).
University said the camp was organised in collaboration with the WDC in its girls’ hostel.
“The girls have been offered educational loan upto Rs 20 lakh on only three per cent interest rate, which is the lowest offered by any agency in India,” it said.
The programme was organised on directions of Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal. He said the programme was “managed only to strengthen the girl students who could not bear the burden of fee”.
Low-interest loans offered by WDC “will be a major help to the girl students”, he said.
Registrar of BGSBU, Mohammad Rashid Chowdhary, who was Chief Guest on the occasion, said the University’s sincerity towards empowerment of women was the reason behind the programme.
District Manager of WDC, Nasreen Gul, said the Corporation is implementing various schemes for benefit of the women.
