SRINAGAR: Minister for Science & Technology and Animal Husbandry, Sajad Gani Lone, Saturday suggested the use of modern technology for white revolution in the state.
Reviewing operations of the Animal Husbandry Department in state’s winter capital Jammu, Lone, acceding to an official handout issued here, asked the officers to adopt “modern technology and scientific methods to maximize livestock population for bringing white revolution in the state”.
He said the government will encourage cattle-rearing farmers to grow high-quality livestock for “attractive returns”.
Describing cattle rearing as the “support of the state’s economy”, he said “all efforts” would be made to promote this “vital sector”.
“In the present era of competition in the market, quality control is must and we have to focus on this vital area to maintain the credibility of state’s livestock,” he said.
MLA Kupwara Bashir Ahmad Dar, Commissioner Secretary Animal Husbandry Ashok Parmar, and other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
Lone asked the officers “to furnish the requirements, if any, to the ministry, so that these requirement are fulfilled to enhance the working capabilities of the organisation”.
“All ranks of the force form the organisation and every member of the organisation has to work with dedication, making public service their motive,” he said.
Lone asked the authorities concerned to come up with the “innovative ideas and plans” for growth of Animal Husbandry in the state.
Stating that various schemes have been introduced to promote the sector, the Minister asked for implementation of the schemes to benefit the farmers.
