Army conducts plantation drive

Srinagar: Army on Friday held a plantation drive at High ground, Anantnag and AGPS, Lidru Pahalgam.
In a statement, a spokesman said that the plantation drive was organised over a period of two days under the aegis of Chinar Corps.
He said that the drive was aimed to save the fertile land from soil erosion caused by the incessant rain and heavy snow fall.
The local Army unit along with the students from AGPS, Lidru, Pahalgam, AGS Highground, Anantnag and Forbel School participated with great enthusiasm and zeal in the plantation drive held at Highground, Anantnag.
The spokesman said that on this occasion, District Floriculture officials and District Forest officer addressed the students and locals about the importance of trees in saving soil erosion.
